Jordan Birnbaum

Political Observer

Multi-talented Jordan Birnbaum is about to launch his latest multimedia venture: The Secret Beatnik Party. The live online programs, which support a semi-farcical political platform, will feature the comedic writing skills of Birnbaum and serve as the center of the new development company online.

One may be astonished to learn that Jordan Birnbaum, talented writer, political observer, stand-up comedian and entertainment mogul, is in fact a rather serious young man with a degree in Political Analysis from prestigious Cornell University.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1993, Jordan Birnbaum was on the Dean’s List and had the honor of private study with Prof. Dean Lilliard. During his semester of field study, Jordan worked with The American Red Cross (Ithaca Chapter) on the development and successful operation of the Homeless Intervention and Prevention Program (HIPP). After graduation, Jordan immediately joined D.E. Shaw & Co on their 18-month Associate Program. He was invited to join the group as a trader in 1994 working as a trader for D. E. Shaw Securities International in London, England. Specializing in Japanese Equity Warrants, Jordan was soon given the responsibility to co-manage the trading operations for the investment firm throughout live operations of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Jordan Birnbaum has always had an interest in a wide range of fields, which influenced him to make the career jump from high profile stock market trader to marketing / sales executive at Juno Online Services. Starting as the Director of Subscriber Acquisition, Jordan pioneered a deal with Blockbuster Music and Video in 1996. The results, 1 million subscribers for Juno, soon became an industry standard and meant rapid promotion for the young executive. Jordan Birnbaum was given the opportunity to put his unique marketing and business acumen to the test when he was promoted to VP of Business Development at Juno and given the key responsibility of revenue generation through alternative advertising. Jordan was made Senior VP, Business Development and managed all revenue operations, sales staff and ad operations as well as a senior role in Juno’s IPO road show.

Jordan Birnbaum Investments

In 2001, Jordan Birnbaum invested in Qtopia, Los Angeles. This groundbreaking multi-media production house and entertainment venue struggled at first until Jordan made the move to Los Angeles, took over management and operations of the company and in 2004 after being granted a liquor license, the rebranded Vanguard was launched to immediate success. Vanguard changed the face of electronic music in Los Angeles and became the venue of choice for many ‘red carpet’ observers and corporate events in the city. Jordan has always been involved in the community and in his adopted city; Jordan served as an official on the Hollywood United Neighborhood Council. Although he sold Vanguard in 2009, Jordan has maintained a close affiliation with many of the luminaries from the entertainment and more specifically the comedy scene in LA.

The launch of The Secret Beatnik Party is a lifelong dream for Jordan and remarkably, will allow him to coalesce his love of performance, political observing, comedy, writing, multimedia online content and his astounding head for start-up business development.
